The Nagaland State Data Center (NSDC) serves as the central repository for the storage, management, and analysis of information that support the functioning and decision-making of state government agencies. It ensures data security, facilitates efficient data sharing between departments, and aids in policy making by providing critical insights.
Additionally, it supports public access to relevant data, enhancing transparency and public engagement. This infrastructure plays a key role in improving service delivery, optimizing resource management, and driving technological innovation within state governance.
Located at the Directorate of Science & Technology, Below New Secretariat, Thizama Road, Kohima – 797001, the Nagaland State Data Centre (NSDC) is a Tier 2 facility established in 2008. It serves as a critical component in the National e-Governance Plan (NeGP) by facilitating the consolidation of services, applications, and infrastructure to enhance efficient electronic delivery of Government-to-Government (G2G), Government-to-Citizen (G2C), and Government-to-Business (G2B) services.
Key Features of NSDC:
- Redundancy: Equipped with redundant servers, network, and security devices to ensure high availability and eliminate single points of failure.
- Infrastructure: Features redundant power supplies, precision air conditioning, and advanced fire detection and suppression systems to maintain an optimal environment for critical systems.
- Connectivity and Accessibility: Offers extensive connectivity through the State Wide Area Network (SWAN) and Common Service Centre (CSC), facilitating seamless service delivery across various government departments.
- Service Scope: Hosts 103 websites and 22 applications for numerous government departments, including the Education Department, Finance Department, and Transport Department.
- Surveillance and Security: Secured with continuous surveillance and managed round-the-clock by a dedicated Composite Team to ensure uninterrupted services throughout the year.
At NSDC, we are committed to delivering secure, reliable, and continuous services to meet the evolving needs of the State Government's digital infrastructure.
The NSDC (State Data Centre) is an essential component of infrastructure designed to bridge citizen services with e-Governance applications and supporting structures. It ensures the efficient delivery of Government-to-Government (G2G), Government-to-Citizen (G2C), and Government-to-Business (G2B) services through a shared delivery platform, supported by State Wide Area Network (SWAN) and Common Service Centres (CSC), extending connectivity to the block level.
Key Benefits of SDCs:
- Aggregation of IT infrastructure, including hardware, storage, networking, and software, plus management resources to enhance operational efficiency.
- System standardization and strengthened management control, resulting in faster application deployment, reduced costs, and dynamic scalability.
- Stringent security measures and maximum uptime ensured.
For hosting eGovernment websites and applications, various departments will utilize a seamless, shared, secure, robust, and highly dependable data centre architecture. This architecture not only offers ample and scalable capacity but also significantly reduces the overall costs associated with data management, IT administration, deployment, and other expenses.
Infrastructure and Security at NSDC:
- Provision of critical infrastructure such as rack space, uninterrupted power supply (UPS), air conditioning, diesel generator sets, fire prevention systems, and access control systems.
- All components are safe, highly available, and planned and implemented in accordance with at least Tier II data centre standards.
